Albrecht adds another accolade

Sonoma All-American volleyball senior ?receives scholar-athlete award at BASHOF|

Though her mantle is crowded with numerous trophies, plaques and certificates she’s garnered for her athletic abilities and achievements, Sonoma Valley High School senior volleyball All-American Mackenzie Albrecht will definitely find room to fit her most recent award of accomplishment.

Set to attend the University of California, Berkeley, on a full-ride athletic scholarship in the fall, Albrecht received one of just two Toyota/Steve Young/Scholar Athlete awards for the Bay Area at Monday night’s 36th annual, and prestigious, Bay Area Hall of Fame Banquet at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco.

Along with her success in the classroom, Albrecht led the volleyball Lady Dragons in capturing their fourth straight Sonoma County League title as both a two-time SCL and All-Empire player of the year; claiming the postseason North Coast Section Division-3 crown; and reaching the NorCal championship semifinals.

For her outstanding 2014 season, Albrecht was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s 2014 Under Armour Girls’ High School All-America Team.
