Lady Dragons upend El Mo, at Analy today

Sonoma baseball boys host defending champ Analy Thursday night|

The Sonoma Valley High School varsity softball girls got back on the Sonoma County League’s winning track at their home field last Thursday following a road loss to defending champion Petaluma.

With senior Hannah Herrick turning in another standout pitching performance – yielding five hits, while striking out 13 and walking three – the Lady Dragons defeated SCL foe El Molino 13-5 to improve their overall record to 11-8 and league mark to 5-2.

Leading Sonoma were sophomore Maddie Lentini’s three-for-three with three RBIs; senior Shawny McVeigh’s two-for-three with two RBIs; and sophomore Hayden Pearce’s two-for-four with two RBIs.

The Lady Dragons play a pair of SCL games on the road this week, first traveling to Sebastopol today for a rematch with longtime rival Analy, which nipped them in their first meeting; and then they face Elsie Allen Thursday afternoon, April 30, in Santa Rosa.

Sonoma’s SCL unbeaten first-place varsity baseball boys begin the second and final six-game round of the 12-game league schedule today in Santa Rosa, where they’ll face Elsie Allen.

The Dragons will then host defending champion Analy, which they beat in their first meeting, at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 30, under the Arnold Field lights. The game was originally scheduled for Friday, but because of an event at their school, Analy asked that it be moved to Thursday.
