Lady Dragons trounce Justin-Siena

Game stopped after six innings by 10-run rule|

The Sonoma Valley High Lady Dragons softball team put up a five-spot in the first inning Wednesday and didn’t look back as they beat Justin-Siena 13-3 in a non-league game that was stopped after six innings because of the 10-run rule.

The Dragons led 5-2 after the first inning and scored at least one run in each of the next five innings.

Seven different Dragons collected hits, and senior pitcher Hannah Herrick scattered seven hits, walked three and struck out two to notch the win.

Besides pitching a good game, Herrick collected two hits and two RBIs; sophomore Isabel Hernandez had two hits, two runs and two RBIs; senior Nicole Reed had two hits, a run and two RBIs; sophomore Erin Atkinson had two hits, a run and an RBI; senior Shawney McVeigh had two hits; sophomore Maddie Lentini had a triple, an RBI and scored three times; sophomore Malena Mackey collected a run, a hit and an RBI; sophomore Hayden Pearce had two runs and an RBI; sophomore Kasey Reed scored two runs and sophomore Bella Fanucchi scored a run.

The win gives the Dragons a 10-8 overall record. Sonoma entertained El Molino on Thursday afternoon (results not available at press time), and will travel to Analy Tuesday for a 4 p.m. tilt.
