Sonoma golfers pay back Trojans

Dragon boys end dual-match season at SGC, SCL championships next|

On the heels of dramatic two-stroke Sonoma County League win in Healdsburg, the Sonoma Valley High School boy golfers returned home and ended their SCL dual-match season on a winning note.

With senior Cyle Caselli leading the way with a medalist performance, the Dragons upended longtime rival Petaluma 238-245 last Thursday at the Sonoma Golf Club.

Following Caselli’s nine-hole low round of 41, Sonoma, finishing with a 5-3 record, was also led past the visiting Trojans by senior Christian Ballard’s 45, senior Brett Sullivan’s 48, senior Jake Randuch’s 50, and senior Austin Dunn’s 54.

Rounding out Sonoma’s boys’ golf roster, coached by Pat Armitage, are seniors Dante Fernandez, Jackson Keechler and Brian Martin-Gutierrez; sophomores Nicolas Grossi and Jordan Randuch; and freshman Evan Sandeen.

The Dragons will next compete in the SCL championship tournament on Monday, April 27.
