Sonoma boys host Petaluma in home, season finale Thursday|

Keeping a tight hold of the top spot in the Sonoma County League standings, the first-place Sonoma Valley High School tennis boys captured their eight straight SCL dual-match win after dropping the season opener by routing El Molino 6-1 in a rained-out makeup clash Monday at the high school courts.

Posting wins for the Dragons were sophomore Matt McKale’s 6-3, 6-4 over Arlo David at No. 2 singles; senior James McKale’s 6-0, 6-3 over Cade Stan at No. 3 singles; senior Sam Sondheim’s 6-0, 6-0 over Julian Cuerda at No. 4 singles; junior Dylan Bearg and sophomore Liam Handron’s 6-1, 6-2 over Elleva Kuntz and Alan Puga at No. 1 doubles; junior Ian Bon and sophomore Elias Sosa’s 6-4, 6-0 over Edmundo Lopez and Beebs Walker at No. 2 doubles; and senior Adam Curry and sophomore Randy Rivera’s 6-1, 6-4 over Thomas Mitchell and Nathan Cramer at No. 3 doubles.

Sustaining Sonoma’s lone loss was senior Caleb Horowitz’s 5-7, 0-6 to Andes Toruno at No. 1 singles.

The Dragon netters, who faced El Molino for a third and final match yesterday in Forestville – results not available at presstime – play in Healdsburg on Tuesday, April 21, before hosting Petaluma in both the home and dual-match season finale on Thursday, April 23, and will honor the seniors before the 3:30 p.m. showdown.
