Last Wednesday, Major League Baseball spring training began, and then on Thursday, the prep diamond season started with the Sonoma Valley High School varsity boys’ baseball team traveling to the East Bay for their 2015 opener.

Playing without a complete roster as the basketball boys, including two pitchers, are currently competing in the postseason, the Dragons had a 4-1 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, but yielded a slough of walks, which El Cerrito took advantage of by scoring nine runs and grabbing a 10-4 nonleague decision.

The Sonoma baseball boys travel to Marin for a Friday afternoon, Feb. 27, nonleague clash with Novato.
