Sonoma wrestlers fall to Analy on ?forfeits, host ?Petaluma Wednesday|

Turning in a strong team effort, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity wrestlers took the head-to-head bout battle with co-defending Sonoma County League champion Analy in Tuesday night’s SCL dual match in Golton Hall.

Unfortunately, the season-long dilemma of having to forfeit four lightweight bouts again cost the Dragons an SCL dual as visiting Analy, which forfeited just one bout, escaped the Valley with 46-24 win.

The Dragon weight-class winners included junior Dalton Elster’s 38-second pinning of Olson in the heavyweight division; senior Jack Biaggi’s first-round pin-win over Pitcarage at 173 pounds; sophomore Noah Bartolome’s hard-fought 2-1 triumph over Wight at 162; freshman Nick Biaggi’s 8-6 victory over Bloominthal at 134; and senior Jake Randuch win by way of a forfeith at 154.

Sustaining Sonoma’s losses were junior Jake McDonald’s 8-6 edging by Galea at 147 pounds; freshman Valentino Battaglini’s 8-2 to Weaver at 195; junior David Price 11-3 to Bazzano at 137; senior Jacob Little’s first-round pin-loss to Schumann at 182; and junior Austin Beltran’s third-round pinning by Carreras at 222.

The Dragon wrestlers will next host longtime SCL rival Petaluma at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, in Golton Hall.
