Sox de Vine marks second year

Sox de Vine on the Plaza is celebrating its second anniversary in October. The colorful store is filled with fanciful frocks for the feet.

“As the name implies, its is primarily a sock store,” said owner Jeannette Fung. “Sox de Vine carries socks for women, men, children and babies.”

She also sells tights, leggings, small accessories, hats, reading glasses, sunglasses and umbrellas. Shoppers can find popular brands such as K. Bell, Hot Sox, Socksmith, Smartwool and Wigwam in a rainbow of colors. Fung said she sells socks that are “fun, good for your feet, warm, loud and crazy” and socks that “make a statement.”

Fung has lived in Sonoma since 2001, but was born on the island nation of Aruba. She worked in New York and San Francisco in the banking industry before finding her way to Sonoma. In 2011, she decided to follow her passion for fun footwear and on Oct. 19 of that year, Sox de Vine opened for business.

“I opened the business because I’ve always loved fun, crazy socks,” she said. But it’s her customers who keep her coming back to work with a smile. “I love talking with my customers and especially treasure the chats that I have with my loyal, local customers.”

Sox de Vine can be found at 107 E. Napa St., Sonoma. It is open Monday to Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more details, visit soxdevine.com, email soxdevine@gmail.com or call 996-1413.
