A Sonoma man was arrested on Feb. 6 on suspicion of a bank robbery that occurred on Jan. 29, in Santa Rosa
Richard Paul Lormer, 44, of Sonoma, was arrested by Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputies at the request of the Santa Rosa Police Department.
On Saturday, Feb. 1, after receiving a report from a citizen, Santa Rosa police recovered some of the cash taken in the Exchange Bank robbery from a dumpster behind a business on Santa Rosa Avenue.
Then on Sunday, Feb. 2, also after receiving a report from a citizen, clothing believed to be the clothing the suspect was wearing at the time of the robbery was recovered discarded near Spring Lake Park. After the suspect’s photo was released, Santa Rosa Police Department detectives received tips in this case leading to the identity of a suspect. Lormer was identified as the person who robbed the Exchange Bank on Stony Point Road on Jan. 29.
On Thursday, Feb. 6, after searching for Lormer, Santa Rosa police found that he may be at a family member’s residence in Sonoma. Shortly after 8 a.m. police detectives requested the assistance of Sheriff’s deputies who contacted Lormer at the home and took him into custody peacefully.
He was transferred to the custody of the Santa Rosa Police Department and booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
