Sonoma Yoga Fest features music nights

The Sonoma Yoga Fest will feature three nights of music during the event scheduled from Oct. 31 – Nov. 2.

On Friday, Oct. 31, from 7 to 10 p.m. the festival will present BollyWeen, a Bollywood-inspired Halloween dance party featuring DJ Dragonfly, a San Francisco-based performer who spins a bold mix of world fusion electronica.

Bollywood attire is encouraged. The dance will be held at the Sonoma Valley Woman’s Club, 574 First St. W., Sonoma.This is an alcohol-free, all ages event, though children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The cost is $20 for adults, $10 for children 12 and under, and free for kids under 5. Chai and snacks will be available for purchase.

On Saturday, Nov. 1, from 8 to 10 p.m., the festival will present Jai Uttal in concert. Uttal is a Grammy nominated pioneer in the world music community. His eclectic east-meets-west sound has put his music at the forefront of the world fusion movement. Jai Uttal’s musical roots embrace a rich variety of cultures and traditions that span the globe and the centuries.

The concert will be held at the Sonoma Valley Woman’s Club, and is an alcohol-free event with light refreshments available for purchase. The cost is $35 a person.

Sunday, Nov. 2, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., DASI Karnamrita will perform at Yoga Community, 577 Fifth St. W., Sonoma. Classically trained as a vocalist in India for nearly a decade and immersed in kirtan (devotional music) since birth, Karnamrita Dasi is one of the world’s leading kirtan singers as well as the first female Westerner to be classically trained in this sacred art. The cost is $35 per person.
