Sonoma vet clinic honored for energy efficiency

By

A Sonoma veterinary clinic will be among six entities honored during the inaugural Local Energy Action Forum which will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Paradise Ridge Winery in Santa Rosa.

Sponsored by the Sonoma County Energy Independence Program (SCEIP) and Sonoma County Energy Watch in partnership with Pacific Gas and Electric, the forum is targeted at the local business community and is among Sonoma County’s many ongoing initiatives to promote and reward energy efficiency.

The Energy Leader Awards honor organizations and companies that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to becoming more energy conscious by implementing measures that will not only save money but reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

Dr. Howard Rosner and the Sonoma Veterinary Clinic are among the honorees. Others include Santa Rosa Plaza, Simon Properties, Santa Rosa; Glaser Center, Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Santa Rosa; Speer’s Market, Forestville; Empire College, Santa Rosa; and the Cotati – Rohnert Park Unified School District, Rohnert Park.

“Sonoma County strives to be at the forefront of innovation,” said Sonoma County Board of Supervisors Chairman David Rabbitt. “This forum highlights innovative partnerships with local organizations and businesses and exemplifies the kind of success that is possible when we work together.”

Rabbitt will open the forum with Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore local resources for energy and water conservation financing, rebates and incentives, including a presentation by the Economic Development Board’s Green Business Certification Program. The evening will culminate with an award ceremony recognizing local business leaders in energy efficiency and solar power.

Paradise Ridge Winery is located at 4545 Thomas Lake Harris Drive, Santa Rosa.
