Sonoma spikers, netters sweep

After sweeping both regular-season matches from one longtime Sonoma County League foe, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity volleyball girls duplicated the feat over another longtime SCL rival Tuesday night in Sebastopol.

In the wake of last week’s three-set home rout of El Molino, the visiting three-time defending champion Lady Dragons soundly defeated Analy 25-13 in the first set. They then registered 25-19 wins in the second and third sets en route to their convincing 3-0 match victory.

Leading the Sonoma spikers to their ninth straight SCL win without a loss were senior Mackenzie Albrecht’s 30 assists, 12 digs and10 serving aces; senior Delaney Swanson’s 15 kills, 14 digs and two aces; sophomore Kiara Miles' 13 digs and three aces; sophomore Jenna Mak's 11 digs, five kills and one ace; senior Hannah Herrick and junior Sami Von Gober's seven digs and one ace each; and senior Ciara Smith's four kills and three blocks.

The Lady Dragons, who faced visiting league foe Healdsburg last night – results not available at presstime – wrap up both the SCL and regular season playing Piner in Santa Rosa Tuesday evening, Oct. 28, before hosting Elsie Allen in the finale, which is also senior night, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, in Pfeiffer Gym.
