SONOMA RACEWAY’S 2014 Big O Tires major events schedule continues with the annual NHRA Sonoma Nationals the weekend of July 25 through 27, which are preceded by the NHRA Division 7 Drag Races July 18 through 20. The IndyCar Series, featuring the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma, arrives in the Valley the weekend of Aug. 22 through 24, with the Classic Sports Racing Group Charity Challenge slated for Oct. 4 and 5. BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS of Sonoma Valley have created a Men’s Indoor Soccer League and are looking for six eight-player teams, with matches played at the club’s Maxwell Farms Regional Park court. Team cost is $400 plus a $100 returnable sportmanship deposit. Also, the BGCSV is seeking one more team to complete the men’s 25-years-and-older basketball summer league, with with the team cost being $700 plus a $100 returnable sportmanship deposit. SONOMA VALLEY HIGH School’s boys basketball program will be holding summer camp hoops workouts for incoming freshman, junior varsity and varsity players in Pfeiffer Gym on Mondays through Fridays for four weeks. SONOMA AQUATICS CENTER’S summer swim programs for ages 3-months-old to adults at the SAC site, 17350 Vailetti Drive, continues with water polo camps (ages 7-to-14) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 1 to 31. Also offered are the Sea Dragons swim team (novice/competitive – ages 5-and-older); swim lessons (ages 3-and-older) are taught throughout the summer, and adults and masters swim programs are available.
