Sonoma Mission Holiday Celebration tickets available on Saturday

California State Parks in cooperation with the Sonoma/Petaluma State Historic Parks Association hosts the 28th annual Sonoma Mission Holiday Celebration (formerly known as Christmas at the Mission). Tickets are available beginning Saturday, Nov. 23, at Mission San Francisco Solano, 114 E. Spain St., Sonoma.

Sonoma Mission Holiday Celebration takes place on Saturday, Dec. 14. It is a unique opportunity to experience Sonoma State Historic Park at night. Program times are 4:30, 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. The Sonoma Valley High School Madrigal Choir will lead carols for this year’s program.

Sonoma Mission Holiday Celebration attendees should be prepared to stand for long periods as there is very limited seating available in the chapel, and dress for inclement weather as promotions of the program is held outdoors. Refreshments will be served (courtesy of the Sonoma/Petaluma State Historic Parks Association) at the Toscano Kitchen located behind the Toscano Hotel, 20 E. Spain St. There will also be soldier demonstrations and a Victorian craft station located inside the Sonoma Barracks.

Plus, the Sonoma League for Historic Preservation will host a free holiday open house for the public at two historic properties, the Gen. Hooker House, El Paseo de Sonoma, and the Maysonnave House, 291 First St. E. from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Music and refreshments will be available at each location. For information about the Sonoma League for Historic Preservation, visit sonomaleague.org.

Due to the popularity of this event, admission is by ticket only. Tickets go quickly and there is a $2 suggested donation per ticket. Donations received go directly to the Sonoma/Petaluma State Historic Parks Association who support its holiday program and other Sonoma State Historic Park event and activities. Tickets will be available beginning Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Sonoma Mission located at the corner of First Street East and East Spain Street. The Mission is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sonoma State Historic Park is a California State Park and includes Mission San Francisco Solano (Sonoma Mission), Toscano Hotel and Kitchen, Sonoma Barracks, Casa Grande site and Servant’s Quarters and Gen. Vallejo’s Home and historic fields.
