Sonoma levels Lady Lobos, 51-3

For the third straight Sonoma County League game, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity basketball girls faced an opponent from the bottom of the SCL standings and easily romped to an overwhelming victory.

After walloping Piner last Wednesday, the SCL-undefeated first-place Lady Dragons returned to Santa Rosa on Friday and, led by their rock-solid defense, basically wrapped up the game in the first quarter, with every player suited up contributing to their overwhelming 51-3 triumph over Elsie Allen.

Sonoma was led by junior Mackenzie Albrecht’s 10 points, eight rebounds and four steals; junior Delaney Swanson’s eight points, seven rebounds, two steals and two assists; junior Sierra Lilly's eight points; senior Giana Monterosso's seven points and two assists; junior Alexa Hall's five points and three rebounds; junior Shelby Camilleri's four points, seven rebounds and four steals; senior Megan Neely's four points and six rebounds; junior Hanna Lemaire’s two points, two assists and two steals; junior Laryssa Baker's two points; and junior Ciara Smith’s one point, nine rebounds and four blocks.

The Lady Dragons, who played Maria Carrillo in the nightcap of yesterday’s Sonoma-hosted Martin Luther King Jr. Day SCL versus North Bay League Challenge – results not available at presstime – will next host SCL foe Healdsurg at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 22, in Pfeiffer Gym.

Sonoma’s girl cagers will then travel to Sebastopol on Friday, Jan. 24, to battle longtime league rival Analy, which has also pulled an upset of defending champion Petaluma, which hosts the Lady Dragons in a rematch on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
