Sonoma hosting SCL hoops, wrestle openers

Ending a daunting preseason with a Cactus Jam closing victory in Arizona for a 5-8 nonleague record, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity basketball girls are now focusing on their Sonoma County League campaign, which begins with a major challenge.

The Lady Dragons open their 2014 SCL season hosting a longtime rival in defending champion Petaluma this Wednesday, Jan. 8, in Pfeiffer Gym, with the junior varsity playing at 6, and the varsity tipping off at 7:30 p.m.

Sonoma’s girl cagers will then host SCL foe El Molino next Friday, Jan. 10, starting with the jayvees at 4, and the varsity game slated for 5:30 p.m.
