While the busy fall season reaches its end in the postseason, Sonoma Valley High School’s winter sports programs are underway with workouts and basketball will tip off the 2013-14 season next week, followed in a couple of weeks by wrestling.
After two hoops scrimmages the Lady Dragons will partake – at Rancho Cotate last night, and in tomorrow’s, Saturday, Nov. 23, annual Justin-Siena Scramble in Napa – they will play Cardinal Newman in the annual Foundation Game this Tuesday night, Nov. 26.
Sonoma’s varsity girl cagers will then host their annual alumnae game at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, in Pfeiffer Gym and any Lady Dragon alumna cager interested in playing can contact assistant coach Sheila Brady at 287-0571 or email at email@example.com, or Sarah Semenero at 322-0261.
The Lady Dragons open their nonleague preseason schedule by hosting both Sir Francis Drake and Napa on Saturday, Nov. 30, and Tuesday, Dec. 3, respectively, in Pfeiffer Gym, with the freshmen starting at 4:30, the junior varsity begin at 6, and the varsity plays at 7:30 p.m.
Sonoma’s varsity girls will then host their annual Dragon Classic from Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 5 to 7.
In their Foundation Game matchup this Tuesday, Nov. 26, Sonoma’s varsity basketball boys will be hosting Casa Grande at Pfeiffer Gym – frosh begin at 4:30, the jayvees play at 6, and the varsity tips off at 7:30 p.m. – before opening their nonleague preseason at Ukiah on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
The Dragon boys will remain on the road until Tuesday, Dec. 10, when they host San Marin.
