Sonoma girl golfers end season at SCLs

Without an experienced senior on the team, the young Sonoma Valley High School girl golfers showed steady improvement with each match. On Monday they wrapped up a competitive season playing in the Sonoma County League championship tournament at the Oakmont East Golf Course in Santa Rosa.

Battling through 18 holes on the girls’ par-63 links layout, the Lady Dragons finished in fifth place with a combined score of 557, which topped El Molino’s 564, and followed SCL champion Analy’s 457, followed by Healdsburg’s 489, Petaluma’s 528, and Piner’s 544.

Comprising Sonoma’s young girls’ golf squad, directed by first-year head coach Dianne Lloyd and assistant coach Jean Montague, were juniors Anna DeSmet, Isabel Garon, Callie Hogan and Jacquline Regan; and freshmen Ali Declercq, Hannah Ladouceur and Candice Silkey.

Pacing the Lady Dragons at the SCL championships were Hogan’s 18-hole round of 100, Silkey’s 108, Declercq’s 112, Ladouceur’s 118, and Garon’s 119.
