Sonoma Cycle Fit opens

There are many motivations for getting fit, but Jenny Kovacs has a particularly compelling one. After six months of chemotherapy for Hodgkin’s lymphoma, the mother of two was feeling “sick, weak and exhausted. I decided enough was enough, and that I would take charge of my health. I began exercising and eating more healthfully. I began to feel better almost immediately and I’ve never turned back.”

Not only has Kovacs never turned back, she has surged forward, with husband Adam Kovacs, to turn a fitness passion into a business. The result, Sonoma Cycle Fit, opened this week in a 2,000-square-foot space at 551 Fifth St. W.

Jenny Kovacs’ passion for health and fitness drove her to becoming a certified group fitness and indoor cycling instructor. “I know what it feels like to be unhealthy and I know the power of change that physical fitness can promote,” she said. “My husband and I are both extremely passionate about helping the community become a healthier one. My goal is to help people that have been in the same place I was. That’s what led to our decision to open our own fitness studio. We wanted to create a beautiful space, hire the best instructors and offer as many classes as possible in order to draw people in.”

The new facility combines indoor cycling and a TRX studio, the only one of its kind in Sonoma. Two separate studio spaces operate simultaneously, one cycling specific, the other designed for TRX and group fitness. The cycling room houses 30 state-of-the-art, Kaiser M3 bikes with power consoles, arranged stadium style to guarantee a good view from every vantage point. Dim lighting, premium sound and highly trained instructors help take class members to the next level.

Kovacs says indoor cycling is appropriate for all fitness levels, catering to brand new riders and advanced cyclists alike. Free weekly intro classes are available for those who haven’t tried stationary bikes.

Classes include 60 minutes of cycle fit, or combinations of cycling and either 30 minutes of serious sculpting using free weights, or 30 minutes of TRX suspension training. Free weekly intro classes of TRX training are also offered. All the instructors are certified in their area of expertise, whether cycling or TRX.
