Sonoma's co-defending SCL champion varsity soccer boys' squad is also having early in the season scoring problems, which led to their second straight loss to begin league play on Tuesday in Santa Rosa.

After stepping up defensively, but, again, anemic on offense, the Dragons held Elsie Allen scoreless through regulation play, but they then had a breakdown that led back to a stream of goals for the Lobos and Sonoma returned home with a 4-0 loss.

The Dragons, who hosted Piner yesterday – results not available at presstime – embark on an SCL road trip for four matches, starting in Sebastopol on Tuesday, Sept. 23, where they face fellow co-defending champion Analy.

Then the Sonoma boys make stops in Healdsburg on Thursday, Sept. 25; Forestville to play El Molino on Tuesday, Sept. 30; and Petaluma on Thursday, Oct. 7.

The soccer Lady Dragons, who played Elsie Allen on Wednesday – results not available at presstime – begin a three-game SCL road trip today in Santa Rosa, where they face Piner, followed by night matches against Analy in Sebastopol on Wednesday, Sept. 24, and in Healdsburg on Friday, Sept. 26.

Sonoma’s girls return home to host El Molino on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
