Sonoma Community Center seeks ceramics artist-in-residence

The Sonoma Community Center is accepting applications for an artist-in-residence for its ceramics program beginning Jan. 6.

The artist will be selected to participate in a six-month residency based on artistic merit as represented by the artist’s portfolio, a letter of intent outlining the work he or she intends to create while at the community center, a resume and two professional letters of recommendation. Applications are due no later than Nov. 10. The selected artist-in-residence will be notified by Nov. 15.

This program affords a self-directed emerging or established artist a supportive environment in which to explore his or her artwork and ideas. This residency program is designed for those who are dedicated to developing a body of work with a specific purpose or end goal. The program is open to all artists living within the United States and culminates with a gallery exhibition at the end of the residency period.

This residency provides a small living space for the artist, limited access to the community center’s full-sized kitchen, Internet access, a dedicated space in the ceramics studio and full time studio access and reduced rates on some materials fees and firings. Resident artists will also have opportunities for paid teaching during regular class sessions, workshops and summer programs.

For more information or an application for this residency, call 938-4626, ext. 7, or visit sonomacommunitycenter.org.
