Soccer Lady Dragons end SCL topping El Mo on road

On Monday, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity soccer girls ended their Sonoma County League 12-match schedule on an upbeat note in Forestville with a 2-0 victory over El Molino on seniors Shelley Marmaduke and Emily Miller’s one scored goal each, and an assist by freshman standout Amy Stanfield.

Then on Wednesday the Lady Dragons ended their regular season with a nonleague 3-0 loss to small school power Sonoma Academy at the high school field to finish with a 10-9-2 overall record and SCL 8-3-1 third-place mark.

Rounding out the Sonoma varsity girls’ roster – directed by head coach Mike Verdu and assistant coaches Cindy Studdert and Rich Reed – are seniors Christen Silkey, Alejandra Alvarez, Maddie Dougherty, Raegen Hedley, Monica Ramirez, Gabby Reed and Rian Verdu; juniors Vanoni, Bella Bollman, Lilyanna Caranza, Annie Greenslade, Brianda Prudente, and Mia Vanoni; and sophomores Mallett, Lorne Basken, Alanna Johnston, Hayden Pearce, Hanna Maillard and Katie Stovall.

Both the Sonoma girls’ team and varsity boys’ squad, which ended their SCL and regular season with yesterday’s makeup match against Analy in Sebastopol – results not available at presstime – now await their postseason fate with Sunday’s North Coast Section Division-3 playoffs seeding meeting.
