Soccer Dragons start SCL play facing Petaluma home, away

On the heels of short preseasons, the Sonoma Valley High School boys and girls’ varsity soccer teams start their Sonoma County League campaigns this week facing longtime rival Petaluma in both home and road matches.

The co-defending champion Sonoma soccer boys host the Trojans in their 4 p.m. SCL opener Thursday, Sept. 11, at the high school field, while the Lady Dragons, who played nonleague Casa Grande yesterday – results not available at presstime – open SCL action at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, under Petaluma's Durst Field lights.

Last Friday, the Sonoma boys traveled to Santa Rosa for a nonleague battle with a strong Montgomery team and ended up dropping a 2-0 decision.

The Dragons wrap up their preseason hosting San Marin at 4 p.m. today on the high school field.
