Soccer Dragons split nonleaguers

In their final preseason nonleague matches, the Sonoma Valley High School varsity soccer boys upended visiting San Marin 3-1 Wednesday at the high school field, with Sonoma’s varsity soccer girls falling to a strong Casa Grande team 3-0 at Hanna Boys Center on Monday.

Leading the Sonoma boys to their victory were senior Andrew Lopez-Echeverria’s two goals scored, and junior Edwin Reyes’ one goal.

The co-defending champion Dragons opened their Sonoma County League season hosting Petaluma yesterday – results not available at presstime – and travel to Santa Rosa today to play SCL foe Elsie Allen on Tuesday, Sept. 16.

Sonoma’s soccer girls open their SCL campaign hosting longtime rival Petaluma at 4 p.m. today on the high school field.

The Lady Dragons remain home to host Elsie Allen in a 4 p.m. league match on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
