Sister Cities hosts furmint tasting

The Sonoma-Tokaj Sister Cities Committee is hosting a wine tasting from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, featuring the Hungarian varietal furmint.

Part of the ongoing cultural and economic exchanges sponsored by the Sonoma-Tokaj Sister Cities Committee, this tasting will present premium-level dry furmint wines from 12 winery members of the Tokaj-Sonoma Association. Tickets are $25, and include hors d’oeuvres.

The Tokaj wine region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its volcanic soil and Mediterranean climate produce world-class wines. Wineries pouring dry Furmint include Balassa, Bardon, Barta Cellars, Bazilicus Vineyard, Erzsebet Cellars, Gizella Winery, Grof Degenfeld Vineyard, Himesudvar, Kvaszinger, Majoros, Paulay Winehouse, and Sauska-Tokaj. Representatives of these wineries will be on hand to explain the wines. They are being hosted by members of the Sonoma-Tokaj Sister Cities Committee during their 10-day trip to Sonoma and the Bay Area.

The tasting will be held in Room 110 at the Sonoma Community Center, 276 E. Napa St., Sonoma.

Tickets are limited and available by calling 938-0224 or visit CellarPass at cellarpass.com/tickets_select.aspx?eid=480.
