Showcase eyes, ‘Fright,’ cabaret

The Sonoma Theatre Alliance’s Sonoma Nights Showcase series will present two more shows in October.

The Showcase features intimate performances by regional artists in a variety of genres presented on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, when the main stage production is “dark.” Showcase events begin at 7 p.m. in Andrews Hall of the Sonoma Community Center, 276 E. Napa St., Sonoma.

On Tuesday, Oct. 28, Sonoma Readers’ Theatre will present “Fright Night,” a reading of haunting tales to set the mood for Halloween.

SRT Artistic Director and voiceover artist Butch Engle will read Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Telltale Heart,” and Sonoma performer Jaime Love will be featured in the classic tale of suspense “Sorry, Wrong Number.” Tickets are $14 at svbo.org or by calling the Sonoma Community Center at 938-4626, ext. 1. Net proceeds benefit STA.

On Wednesday, Oct. 29, Sandy and Richard Riccardi bring their all-original all-comedy musical cabaret show to Sonoma. This extraordinarily talented duo, who have performed nationwide, serve up a delightful evening of lampoons, jabs and jibes on a wide range of topics – politicians, TV evangelists, Broadway musical wannabes, sexual orientation, the Twitter explosion – for mature audiences.

Wine and refreshments will be available. Tickets are $20 at svbo.org or by calling the Sonoma Community Center at 938-4626, ext. 1.
