Senior project Home Run Derby slated

Again two of Sonoma Valley High School’s talented varsity baseball players and all-league standouts, Dan Deely and Vinny Albano, have combined their senior project efforts into producing, directing and, possibly, participating in the popular Home Run Derby.

The one-day event will help raise money for improvements and restoration of Arnold Field, and for the Dragons’ baseball program.

Albano and Deely’s senior project event is scheduled for Saturday, April 19, at Arnold Field, with ages 6-to-12-years-old attempting to homer from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; ages 13-to-17 make their home-run attempts from 3 to 5 p.m.; and ages 18-and-over will swing away from 5 to 8 p.m. (under the lights).

The home-run distances will be adjusted for each age group.

Home Run Derby costs are $5 for eight swings and $10 for 10 swings, and the fundraising event will also include prizes for the winners, a barbecue, and a raffle with prizes donated by local Valley businesses.

To swing away and make for a senior project success, or for more information about the Home Run Derby, contact Deely at 299-7974.
