Sebastiani Theatre hosts Howell concert

The Sebastiani Theatre is hosting an appearance by Richard Howell and The Sudden Changes band, a stellar all-star cast of dynamic talents dedicated to the performance of soulful jazz, blues, rock and pop music, at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3.

As a saxophonist, Howell’s spirited abilities have been mingled with the talents of Etta James, Chaka Khan, Della Reese, Don Cherry, Cecil Taylor, Willie Bobo, Angela Bofield, Narada Michael Walden, Buddy Guy, Charlie Musslewhite, and The Motels, among others. Having recently played for the Sonoma Jazz Society, this exuberant and spontaneous group features Glen Pearson on piano, Mark Williams on bass, El’e Howell on drums, Danny Armstrong on trombone, and Geechi Taylor on trumpet.

Howell, along with The Sudden Changes band, has created a playful and creative style that demonstrates the rich cultural heritage and definitive musical elements inherent in jazz. They honor old and new traditions in music, weaving them into an innovative presentation. The audience is included as an important part of each performance, which is thoughtfully designed to create a gateway through time, space, and dimension, allowing them to partake in a journey that awakens the senses.

Don’t miss this opportunity to experience a unique and multi-talented musical ensemble on the stage at the classic Sebastiani Theatre, 476 First St. E. in Sonoma.

General seating tickets are on sale now for $20 and can be purchases at brownpapertickets.com, at the Sebastiani Theatre, 996-9756, and on the Sebastiani Theatre’s website sebastianitheatre.com.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
