SCC’s ‘Holiday Follies’ returns

The Sonoma Community Center kicks off the holiday season on Saturday, Dec. 7, with the third annual “Holiday Follies Naughty and Nice Holiday All-Star Spectacular!”

The curtains open and the spotlight will shine on the Rotary stage in Andrews Hall as a dozens of Sonoma’s finest performing artists take to the stage in a light-hearted and zany celebration of the holiday season.

At 7 p.m. the doors open and guests are welcomed to sip on a “Santa’s Whiskers” cocktail during the pre-show cocktail hour. At 8 p.m., the curtains open on an all-star line up of musical entertainment.

SCC music program director, Cynthia Tarr, will preside over the evening as mistress of ceremonies. As well, she will perform with the Follies house band with Sean Carscadden on guitar, Cliff Hugo on bass, and Mikey Cannon on drums.

At press time the Follies lineup includes, Ilene Briggin, Defying Gravity, Free Spirits Gospel Choir, the Hot Flashes, Hula Mai, Kim Hughes, Meagan James and Hannah Porter, Karin Neihoff, Jennie Norse, Steve Quintana, Micaelia Randolph, Paula Szoka, Mary Sue Ulven-Rank, Vox Populi and Jennifer Wood.

“This event is part Ziegfeld follies, part vaudeville, part night club entertainment harkening back to a time when people came together for live entertainment. Sonoma has so many talented people this is a perfect opportunity to hear something lighthearted and fun. I guarantee you will leave in the holiday spirit.” said Margaret Hatcher, costume designer and special projects manager at SCC.
