Saluting Sonoma’s Treasure Artist

David Aguilar, Sonoma’s Treasure Artist for 2014, donned a crown during a reception to honor him last Thursday.

A standing-room crowd attended the festivities at the Sonoma Community Center. Aguilar is only the fifth musician to be named Treasure Artist in the 30 years the award has been given.  Other musicians included Dan Ruggles in 1986, Norton Buffalo in 1992, Joanne Connor-Metzger in 1995 and Richard Schneider in 2007.

A Sonoma resident since 1980, Aguilar is an accomplished guitarist and for 11 years he performed with Norton Buffalo and Friends. He founded his own band, the Tudo Bem Band along with the David Aguilar/Peter McCauley Duo, the Suspects and the Dynamites.
