Roger (Deets) Winslow

Deets Winslow left this world much too soon for his adoring family, friends, students and those in the boating and wrestling communities. It was his passion for watercraft adventure that took his life away in a tragic boating accident. We will miss him with deafening silence.

He was the son of the late Rose Tanforan and Roger Winslow Sr. He is survived by his sweetheart, best friend and wife, Heidi; along with son, Jordan, 22, daughter, Kayla, 14, and son, Tyler, 13; sister, Charise West (Adam); nephews, A.J. and Caleb; brother Travis Winslow (Sabrina), nephew, Max and niece, Lexi; brother, John Michael Tanforan; nieces, Kaiyah and Isabella and nephew, Jaden; brother, Aaron Christensen (Michelle); bonus mother, Denise Lacampagne and mother-in-law Patricia Sorensen (James).

Deets was an amazing athlete, participating in bowling, softball and golf. After receiving collegiate scholarships for wresting, he continued the great Winslow wrestling legacy by coaching at Sonoma Valley High School for many years and mentoring Sonoma Valley’s youth.

Licensed as a psychiatric technician, he devoted 26 years as an employee at Sonoma Development Center until the time of his death.

Family members and friends are invited to attend a special “Celebration of Life” event on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 1 p.m. in Golton Hall at Sonoma Valley High School, 20000 Broadway, Sonoma.

In lieu of flowers, you can contribute to an educational fund set up for his children. Please make a check payable to “Heidi Winslow” and send to Redwood Credit Union, 500 W. Napa St., Sonoma, CA 95476.
