Robert (Bob) Davis

Robert (Bob) Davis passed away peacefully on March 11, 2014, surrounded by his family. Bob was born on May 12, 1928, in Richmond, and is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marie Davis; and his brother, Ed Davis, of Santa Rosa.

Bob worked for Standard Stations, Inc., and was assistant manager in 1949. He was transferred to Sonoma as manager at the Chevron station at Broadway and Napa Street for 18 years.

He was a volunteer firefighter for the City of Sonoma for 14 years, retiring as a 12-year Gold Badge member. After retirement from the Chevron gas station, Bob started working for Whiten Schuerman at the Standard Oil bulk oil plant, delivering gas to customers throughout Sonoma County, Marin County and Napa County.

Bob had three children, Joyce C. Ritner (Lynn), Robert J. Davis (Carol), Pamela Ballard (Randy); granddaughters, Angela MacGowan (Buck) and Alyssa Ballard; grandson, Robert Lee Davis; and great-grandson, Chase MacGowan. He had three stepchildren by his second marriage to Marie Rinaudo – John R. Rinaudo (Jan), Daniel J. Rinaudo (Maureen), Gary W. Rinaudo (Patty); step-grandchildren, Christina L. Cowan (Steve), Lisa Kish (Steve), Chris Rinaudo (Angie), Steven Rinaudo, Vance Rinaudo and Vanessa Sanders (Kyle); and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Bob was very active in his community. He was a ham radio operator for 28 years, a 43-year member of the Sons of Italy, a 30-year member of the Good Sam Camping Club, and a volunteer at St. Francis Solano Catholic Church.

Friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at St. Francis Solano Catholic Church, 300 W. Napa St., in Sonoma.

Interment will immediately follow at St. Francis Solano Cemetery, Sonoma.

Donations are preferred, to St. Francis Solano School Scholarship Fund, 342 W. Napa St., Sonoma, CA 95476 or the Sonoma Valley Hospital Auxiliary, 347 Andrieux St., Sonoma, CA 95476.
