Richard Howell at the Sebastiani Theatre

The Sebastiani Theatre welcomes Richard Howell and The Sudden Changes Band tonight, Oct. 3, at 8 p.m. Having recently played for the Sonoma Valley Jazz Society, the act features an all-star cast of talent performing soulful blues, jazz, rock and pop music. Band leader Richard Howell is on saxophone and vocals, E.W. Wainwright on drums, Gary Brown on bass, Glen Pearson on piano and Destiny Muhammad on harp and vocals. Their playful and creative style demonstrates the rich cultural heritage and definitive musical elements inherent in jazz. The act honors the old and the new traditions of the music and weaves it into an innovative presentation, with improvised compositions. Howell was a guest performer with Carlos Santana in Liepzig, Germany, a special guest of Salif Keita at Zellerbach Hall, Berkeley, and has performed at the Mali Music Conservatory with Fra Fra Sound and Tumani Dibate in Bamako, Mali, West Africa. Howell comes from a family of musicians, his father also a saxophonist and his son now a drummer who, with Richard, will open a show for Aretha Franklin in Detroit. Doors are at 7:30 p.m. and tickets will be available at the door.

If you’re attending the David Rawlings-Gillian Welch show tonight, Oct. 3, at Gundlach Bundschu Winery, the venue is strongly encouraging car-pooling, and vehicles with less than three in a car will be charged $20. Promoter-winemaker, Jeff Bundschu says “There will be a $20 charge for parking for any car with less than three people. Everyone else parks for free, otherwise cash only at the gate. Our two-lane rural roads are small, rough and better less traveled. We ask that you try hard to carpool if at all possible.”

Sebastiani Winery and Vineyards presents Michale Bryant and New Skye in the tasting room playing tonight, Oct. 3. The show kicks off at 6 p.m. The venue is child- and dog-friendly, and there is no cover. No outside alcohol including beer is allowed, per ABC regulations.

Rossi’s 1906 in El Verano has live music tonight, Oct. 3, with Buck Nickels and Loose Change playing country music for a 9 p.m. show. Saturday, Oct. 4, DJ Trius is back by popular demand, also for a 9 p.m. start.

Burgers and Vine presents Dan Martin and the Noma Rocksteady Band playing classic reggae music tonight, Oct 3, kicking off at 9:30 p.m. There is no cover.

The Annex Wine Bar welcomes Sons of Charles tonight, Oct. 3, for a 7:30 p.m. show. Saturday, Oct. 4, it’s Tilted Halos playing classic rock, also for a 7:30 p.m. show. There is no cover but the venue is 21 and over only.

The Erik James Tasting Room has music tonight, Oct. 3, with John Allair and Julia Harrell kicking off at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, it’s the Left Coast Syncopators, featuring Tim Eschliman, Snakebite Jacobs and Kevin Zuffi, also for a 7 p.m. show. There is no cover either night, but there is a $10 minimum.

Palooza Gastropub in Kenwood presents “Sangria Sunday” on Sunday, Oct. 5, with Full Circle, formerly 3 Friends. The show kicks off at noon.

The Plaza Bistro presents the Terence Brewer Trio tonight, Oct. 3, for a 7 p.m. show. Brewer is a first-call and in-demand bandleader, record producer, concert performer, studio musician, and one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s foremost and sought-after music educators. Brewer has produced and released eight nationally acclaimed albums on the record label Strong Brew Music, which he started in 2005.There is no cover for the show.

The Epicurean Connection presents the Jelly Rolls tonight, Oct. 3, for a 7:30 p.m. show. Sunday, Oct. 5, it’s an early start for Lindalou and Michael, kicking off at 1 p.m.

B.R. Cohn Winery presents Dustin Saylor on the tasting room lawn on Sunday, Oct. 5, kicking off at 2 p.m. There is no cover and picnics are welcome, but no outside alcohol is allowed.

The El Verano Inn has Latin night tonight, Oct. 3, with the band Grupo Eficaz De La Sierra kicking off at 10 p.m.

Showcase the Band will be at the Moose Lodge on Sunday, Oct. 5, playing dance music starting at 4 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door.

The Blue Moon Saloon has karaoke on Saturday, Oct. 4, starting at 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, the saloon presents the continuation of the blues jam, starting at 9:30 p.m. There is no cover.

Showcase the Band will be at the Lakeport Chamber of Commerce Oktoberfest in Lakeport on Saturday, Oct. 4, kicking off at noon.
