Readers stage Lewis’ ‘Chinese Coffee’

A staged reading of “Chinese Coffee,” a play by Ira Lewis, will be presented in Andrews Hall at the Sonoma Community Center at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, and Wednesday, July 16, by Sonoma Readers’ Theatre as part of the Sonoma Theatre Alliance’s Sonoma Nights Showcase series.

The play, during which the two central characters discuss friendship, love, loss, and the humor of daily life, was made into an independent film in 2000, starring Al Pacino and Jerry Orbach. The staged reading will feature Butch Engle and Rich Holsworth.

Tickets, at $14, are available online at svbo.org or by calling the Sonoma Community Center at 938-4626, ext. 1. The Sonoma Community Center is located at 276 E. Napa St., Sonoma.
