Rain moves Stompers tryouts

Because of predicted rain over the weekend, the Sonoma Stompers pro baseball team has changed its first open tryout session from tomorrow, Saturday, March 1, at Albert Park in San Rafael, to Saturday, March 15, with an 8 a.m. start at Sonoma’s Peterson Field, 175 First St. W.

The announcement was made by officials of the four-team Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs league, with the tryout session being conducted by Sonoma Stompers and San Rafael Pacifics managers Casey Dill and Dan DiPace, respectively, and representatives from the other PAPBC teams will be in attendance.

Pre-registration cost, ending at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 14, is $100, and day-of registration is $150, with registrations for the original March 1, date will be honored.

All players are welcome, however it is recommended that those players wishing to try out have exhausted amateur eligibility, and have previous pro or college experience.

To register, or for more details, contact Pacifics’ director of operations, Tristan Barbieri, at 415-485-1563.
