Ragtime Festival set at six venues

Sonoma Valley will ring with ragtime music on Saturday, Oct. 11, as part of the fifth annual Wine Country Ragtime Festival beginning with performances at Jack London State Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring renowned performers Tom Brier and the Saloon Sweeties, Kylan deGhetaldi, Jack Love, Larisa Migachyov, John Partridge, Monty Suffern and Dave Tucker.

The ragtime show is free with park entrance. The event is designed as a family-friendly happening with food, period costumes, games and music.

The festivities and the musicians, plus local favorite Deborah Knapp, move to Sonoma in the afternoon, with continuous ragtime at four venues in downtown Sonoma. All events are free.

Performing at the Depot Park Museum, from 1 to 4 p.m., will be internationally known performer Dave Tucker at 1 p.m.

Throughout the afternoon, musicians performing at the museum will include Deborah Knapp, Kylan deGhetaldi, Larisa Migachyov and Jack Love, a performer at numerous ragtime fests around the country.

The event is free and open to the public. Depot Park Museum is located at 170 First St. W. in Depot Park where parking is free. For more information, contact the museum at 938-1762.

At the Sonoma Library, from 1 to 4 p.m., musicians include Tom Brier and the Saloon Sweeties at 1 p.m.; Larisa Migachyov at 1:30; Dave Tucker at 2; with Monty Suffern at 2:30; and John Partridge at 3. The event is free and open to the public.The library is located at 755 W. Napa St.

There will also be music at The Epicurean Connection, 122 W. Napa St. from 3 to 5:30 p.m., and at the Eric K. James Vineyards, 452 First St. E., from 3 to 5:30 p.m.

Saturday evening, a Ragtime Variety show will be held at 7 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 252 West Spain St., to benefit Friends In Sonoma Helping (FISH). This event, with performers Tom Brier and the Saloon Sweeties, Kylan deGhetaldl, Deborah Knapp, Jack Love and Dave Tucker will also feature a silent movie and sing along.
