Printmaker Sugita's exhibit set at SCC’s gallery

The work of printmaker Toru Sugita will be on display in SCC’s Gallery 212, Oct. 3 through Oct. 31. A reception for the artist will be held on Friday, Oct. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The newest member of the SCC’s faculty, Sugita will teach an Introduction to Etching and Aquatint workshop, Nov. 8 and 9, and an Introduction to Woodblock Printing March 7 and 8, 2015 in the Sonoma Community Center print studio.

Originally from Japan, Sugita is known for his black and white intaglio and wood engraving prints with strong architectural elements. His prints can be found in various public collections including the Achenbach Foundation of Graphic Arts in the Fine Art Museum of San Francisco.

He is currently a faculty member at Diablo Valley College, Pleasant Hill in Contra Costa County. For additional information about Sugita and his work, see torusugita.net.

The Sonoma Community Center is located at 276 E. Napa St., Sonoma. The exhibit is free and open to the public Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
