Pets Lifeline will be hosting Paws for a Cause from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Vintage Kennel Club, 22071 Bonness Road, Sonoma.

Tickets are going fast, but are still available. There will be gourmet dining prepared by Grapevine Catering, wine from some of Sonoma’s top vintners and live music by local favorite, Ten Foot Tone.

Nancy King, executive director of Pets Lifeline said “we are so honored to have the support of Bill Jasper, retired CEO of Dolby Sound, who is the event’s auctioneer, and Jon Sebastiani, CEO and founder of Krave Jerky. Bill is a powerful force as an auctioneer and last year helped us raise much-needed funds. And we are so appreciative that this year Krave is generously donating party favors to the event. Paws for a Cause is not only a great party, but it is our major annual fundraising event as well.”

Jasper believes in the power of the pet. “One’s life is not complete without a dog or cat to come home to every day – one that gives unrelenting love and affection and requires nothing more simple than food and someone who cares. Bring home a pet today from Pet’s Lifeline and make your life complete!”

Jasper retired as president and CEO of Dolby Laboratories, Inc. in March 2009. He joined Dolby in 1979 as chief financial officer and was named company president in 1983. He now lives in Sonoma and participates in a number of community and nonprofit organizations.

Sebastiani was raised in Sonoma and still lives in Sonoma with his family. He was previously president of Viansa Winery and managing director of wine.com. A little more than five years ago, Sebastiani had an epiphany when he was training for the New York City marathon and in need of low-fat, quality snacks with a protein boost. And so the idea for Krave was born and is now distributed internationally.

“My daughter Alexandra attended this summer’s Pets Lifeline camp. And during this same week, the tooth fairy visited her after she lost her fifth tooth.Without telling Mom or Dad, Alexandra proudly brought her tooth fairy money to Pets Lifeline and donated it,” Sebastiani said. “After which she sincerely explained, since our family has two cats from Pets Lifeline, they are like family and that she really loved them – and that family always supports one another, so it was important to her that she give them her money.”

Tickets are available at petslifeline.org or at 996-4577, ext. 110.
