Orland ‘Bill’ Bowen

Orland “Bill” Bowen, 84, died Feb. 18, 2014, at home in Sonoma. He was the loving husband of Grace and father of Daniel Bowen, Beverlee  Magers and the late Clifford. He was the son of the late Mae and Henry Brum; father-in-law of Carolyn and Terry; grandfather of Kimberly, Cassie, Kimberly, Michael and the late William.

Bill was a veteran of U.S. Navy, Korean conflict. He was a barber in Mill Valley for 20 years before opening his own landscaping business in Marin and Sonoma County.

He was a director of maintenance and operations at Santa Rosa Junior College, West Sonoma County High Schools and Sonoma State University for 22 years. Bill was a coach for boys and girls sports for more than 50 years. He opened his home and heart to all who wanted to learn. He was instrumental in the success of Sonoma Valley Girls Softball. Bill was a native of Marin County and a Sonoma County resident for 42 years.

Donations are preferred to  the Sonoma Valley Girls Softball in Bill’s memory.

At his request no formal services will be held. A private inurnment was held at St. Francis Solano Cemetery, Sonoma.

Duggan’s Mission Chapel and Mission Cremation Service were in charge of arrangements.
