President Trump marked the end of his first year in office last month, and we asked readers to evaluate his job performance thus far.

The question elicited a big response – more than 350 Sonomans weighed in on how things are going at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. The results of our survey lined up slightly off of his national approval ratings, with a hair under 30 percent giving the Pres a pat on the back, while 66 percent pretty much agreed with the respondent who observed, “This guy is a trainwreck looking for a place to happen.”

Still, others were less dramatic about it, reminding that the economy remains healthy and we're not in World War III... yet.

As usual with our admittedly non-scientific reader surveys, the comments are the best part. Here are some of the more passionate:

It's been horrible, and the worst part is the three years yet to come. Trump makes many Americans ashamed to admit they are Americans.

He is doing a terrific job. The media – television news, New York Times, etc. – don't seem to be covering his Presidency fairly. I believe they often leave out, or gloss over, good news.

His Presidency is a disaster for our democracy, our safety and our children's future.

I've definitely aged 5 years since his presidency due to stress.

It is amazing that that are destroying everything that came before, especially if it was done by the Obama administration, even though their voter base will be hurt. The gross ignorance of the world and it's history is truly scary.

The Democrats never planned on working with Mr. Trump because they thought crooked Hillary would win. Trump may sound like an ass but, his hard rhetoric has gotten the two Koreas to talk, he is wiping out ISIS and all the clowns claiming a economic doomsday after Trump took over are eating crow.

I'm only amazed that he hasn't started WW3... yet.

It's actually worse than I thought. My expectations were low, but he really went off the rails and got little done.

If not for distractions and derailers from both sides, he and his administration could have accomplished much more for our great country. It's all about votes, not integrity, honor and morals. American citizens pay the price. Very sad!

To term him a “disaster” is an insult to disasters everywhere.

I really distrust and dislike our President, but I wouldn't quantify year one as a disaster. While he didn't accomplish much and he's embarrassing, however the economy has not imploded and he has not started any wars.

Behaves like a spoiled child and has the vocabulary of an 8-year-old. Governs like, and admires, dictators. It is Trump meets Napoleon... it is Trumpoleon and we should all worry. An immature, locker room, teenage boy, is a click away from a starting a nuclear holocaust that ends life as we know it. An open slap in the face to women, immigrants and people of color. Time's up! Vote!
