Opera performs at Prestwood

The San Francisco Opera offers a signature program at more than 100 Bay Area schools each year. Students perform alongside professional singers in a 45-minute adaptation of one of the world’s most beloved operas.

This year, the opera chosen was “La Boheme,” and earlier this month, the production came to Prestwood Elementary School.  

The English-language production features four professional singers, a pianist and a docent who bring the opera to life with help from the students. Students rehearse speaking roles under the guidance of the artists, don specially-designed costumes and perform for the entire school community.
