Norman Moll

Long time Sonoma resident, Norman Moll, 79, passed away unexpectedly on April 30, 2014. He was preceded by his parents, Nellie and John Sigurd Moll; and his siblings, John Moll and Betty Lobsinger, who he loved dearly.

Norm is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Peggy; his daughters, Linda Young (Mike), Jackie Albini (Ed) and Susan Wood; as well as his six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A carpenter by trade, he also worked as an EMT for Norrbom’s Ambulance Company. Norm was also a volunteer firefighter for the Sonoma Valley Fire Department who earned his Gold Badge, and one of the team of three pyrotechnics who started the Sonoma firework shows. A 1953 graduate of Sonoma Valley High School, he played basketball, football, tennis and ran track. More recently, Norm was recognized into the Sonoma Valley High School Football and Tennis Halls of Fame.

He attended UC Davis for one year and played football before entering the Army. Norm was a veteran of the Korean War.

Norm loved his family, western movies, western music, fishing, camping, ice cream and his old motorcycle. We will miss his sense of humor, compassion and caring nature. He was always there for us.

A celebration of Norman’s life will be held on Saturday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 263 Specht Road, Sonoma.

Donations may be made to the organization of your choice.
