Yale University’s most popular class: More than 1,200 students have signed up for a new class on happiness at Yale University. In particular, the curriculum explores how to lead a more satisfying life. Formally called, PSYC 157, or “Psychology and the Good Life,” it is thought to be the most popular class in university history.

School board meeting: There is a SVUSD school board meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Meeting Room on First Street West. On the agenda is a facilities update, school budget information, the plan to eliminate Honors English for juniors and seniors at SVHS, an update on the Superintendent search and more.

Girls basketball: Registration is going on now for girls basketball at the Boys & Girls Clubs. The season runs Feb. 12 to May 10 and is open to girls in grades 3 to 8. Register online at bgcsonoma.org.

Free books: The Sonoma County Free Bookmobile will be in our area on Feb. 17. Donate or get books at Kenwood Market from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.; at the Glen Ellen Post Office from 11 a.m. to noon; and at Fiesta Center in Boyes Hot Springs from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Campfire program: The next all ages campfire at the Barracks, hosted by Sonoma State Historic Park, is set for 4:40 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17. Songs, talk and marshmallows.

Interested in government and leadership: The Santa Rosa-based Sonoma County Commission on the Status of Women is seeking a Junior Commissioner for the 2018-2019 school year. Apply at sonomacounty.ca.gov by Feb. 19.

Family fun hike: There is a free family hike on 10 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18. During this 2-mile hike at Sugarloaf Park you can learn more about the park’s plants, animals and history. $8 parking fee.
