Altimira Middle School in Sonoma names new vice principal

San Diego educator Olga Venegas is experienced in bilingual programs|

Sonoma Valley Unified School District has hired Olga L. Venegas as vice principal of Altimira Middle School.

Venegas was raised in Sonoma County and spent her college and professional career in San Diego. She has been an educator for the past 21 years, primarily focused on bilingual education to support second-language learners reach proficiency. For the last eight years, Venegas has served as an administrator with the San Diego Unified School District. She earned her credentials and degrees from San Diego State University and National University.

Her primary goal in her new role, according to district Human Resources Director Jonathan Ferrer will be β€œto ensure that Altimira scholars continue their academic success and excellence through high school.”

Venegas has experience developing family engagement through parent education courses, positive behavior interventions, home visit programs and restorative practices within school sites.

Her tentative start date is Sept. 1.
