New educator event at Sonoma library

Special educator card designed to meet the needs of educators will be distributed|

Sonoma Valley Library invites Sonoma Valley educators to attend the library’s Back to School Educator Party from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30.

The event will introduce area educators to resources the library provides and especially the Sonoma County Library Educator Card. The card, designed to meet the special needs of educators, may be obtained from the library with verification of current employment or homeschool status. The separate library account grants teachers special privileges to access materials that support students in the classroom. With the card, educators can borrow up to 50 items at a time for classroom use for up to six weeks and do not accrue fines.

“Libraries and school are natural partners, and I look forward to seeing educators stop by the library for this event so we can honor their hard work and talk about how the library can support their work,” said librarian Clare O’Brien. She added that the first 50 attendees will receive a door prize and light refreshments will be served.

The event is free. The library is located at 755 W. Napa St.
