Sonoma Valley High elects class officers

Senior class to be led by Jacqui Alva and Sebastian Lopez|

The junior class at Sonoma Valley High school has elected Jacqui Alva as its president for next year and Sebastian Lopez as the senior class vice president. The 2018-2019 junior class president is Luis Gonzalez and Shauna Johnson will serve as VP. The sophomore class president is Kylie Hopp and Ella Castillo is vice president

The senior class officers oversee the grade levels activities like homecoming floats, fundraisers and events. The schoolwide “slate” officers, elected earlier this month, deal with the whole school as a student body, and their titles are student voice, financial advisor and activities directors.

“Besides being one of the new class officers, I am also on the dance team, co-president of the Empowerment Club, and I am in Link Crew, Key Club, AVID and I also work part-time at Basque Boulangerie Café,” said Sebastian. “I am also a part of the (college access) organizations Summer Search and 10,000 Degrees,” he said.

Sebastian added that he is really excited to represent the Senior Class and get more people to be involved in spirit days and activities.

Jacqui said that she keeps busy with four AP classes and lots of clubs.

“I am involved with AVID, M.E.Ch.A club, Sociedad Honraría Hispánica, Key Club, Link Crew and serving as treasurer of Dragones Latinx,” she said. “I’m also a weekly volunteer and tutor. Next year, something I really want to focus on encouraging a bigger portion of our class to participate in schools spirited events, and making sure that we represent a bigger voice.”
