Summer camp options in Sonoma Valley

A Sonoma County-wide camp database is available online at pressdemocrat.com/camps.

While many summer camps are now in full swing, there are dozens of great options with space still available. Options abound, and range from sewing camps to Harry Potter to dance camps to backpacking adventures.

Academic

JACK LONDON ADVENTURE WRITING CAMP

Localized nature writing fun for children entering grades 6 through 8. Sessions include July 10 to 14, July 17 to 21, and July 24 to 28, and run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $300, $250 before May 31. 2400 London Ranch Road in Glen Ellen. jacklondonpark.com or 938-5216.

Animals

PETS LIFELINE SUMMER CAMP

FARM TOTS

The Studdert Family Farm offers farm camps all summer for children aged 2.5-9 years old. Activities include caring for sheep, chickens and various farm animals, gardening, climbing trees, building forts, arts and crafts, sports and old-fashioned un-structured play. BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS ART CAMP

BGC COOKING CAMP

SONOMA ECOLOGY CENTER

Harry Potter Camps for ages 6 to 12 run throughout July from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. $260 SEC members, $300 non-members. The SEC also runs overnight mountain backpacking adventures in June that are four days and 3 nights for ages 13 to 16 or three-days and two-nights for ages 10 to 14. BASKETBALL at SVHS

The boys basketball camp at SVHS runs June 5-9 for high school students at a cost of $150 and June 19 to 23 for grades three through eight. Times vary by age. Cost ranges $125 to $150. The girls basketball camp is for grades four through nine and runs June 12 to 15.

CHALLENGER SPORTS
