Sassarini Elementary welcomes new mural

Have you driven by and seen it yet?|

Sassarini Elementary School students are enjoying a large and colorful new mural in the front of the school this fall.

“The new mural was my vision since the beginning of my career at Sassarini,” said Principal Jacqui Parker. “Last year, I met with Gayle Manfree, and I shared my desire to have a mural in front of the school, which would catch people’s attention as they drove by.”

Sassarini’s school mascot is a seahawk, so a seahawk is featured in the center of the mural. “The people in different colors represent our diverse population,” added Parker.

Manfree oversaw the design and painting of the mural and students worked on the project as well.

The mural project was made possible by funds from the Plein Air Foundation. “This would not have been possible without their ongoing support,” said Parker.
