Toy inventor Lori Edwards visited Sassarini Elementary School recently to lead a parent/child class in toy inventing at the Sassarini Mentor Center. The students had the chance to make robots and learn the ins and outs of inventing new toys. The first graders have been meeting each Tuesday after school for the past four weeks thanks to a grant the school received to fund after-school family classes. These classes incorporate STEM curriculum into project learning for elementary school students. (Robbi Pengelly/Index-Tribune)
