Crime: Safeway employees suspected in thefts

Arrested on felony charges|

Two Safeway employees were arrested on felony charges on Feb. 1, after management noticed what was characterized as “unusual activity” over the period of a couple months.

The pair reportedly created discrepancies in the cash register. A preliminary investigation found the shortages were in excess of $4,000.

Lauren Cole, 26, of Sonoma, was arrested on charges of felony embezzlement and felony conspiracy to commit a crime. Ramon Carrillo-Ramos, 20, of Sonoma, was arrested on charges of felony grand theft and felony conspiracy to commit a crime. And a 17-year-old juvenile girl was charged with petty theft and felony conspiracy to commit a crime, was cited and released. Cole and Carrillo-Ramos were transported to the county jail.

Thursday, Jan. 19:

7:23 p.m. – Deputies responded to the intersection of First Street West and Andrieux Street after a motorist collided with several parked vehicles. The man claimed he had only one glass of wine, which he later changed to two glasses, and he had been drinking and eating since about 1 p.m. He blew a .29 and a .28 on a PAS. Hezir Pech, 29, of Sonoma, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and transported to county jail.

Friday, Jan. 20:

1:30 p.m. – During a probation search at a residence in the 18000 block of Sierra Drive, deputies discovered live rounds of ammunition in the bedroom. The probationer, Eric Beck, 47, of Boyes Hot Springs, told the deputy he found the ammunition in a Dumpster. Beck was arrested on charges of felony prohibited person owning ammunition and a probation violation. He was transported to the county jail.

6:30 p.m. – A 12-year-old girl reported that her mother's boyfriend touched her breast about a year ago. Deputies arrested Erik Reese, 45, of Sonoma, on charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14.

Monday, Jan. 23:

10:41 a.m. – A 15-year-old girl was cited for causing fire of property after she reportedly set fire to a corner of a poster at Sonoma Valley High. The girl was playing with a lighter and burned a corner of the poster.

2:40 p.m. – While on patrol in the area of Verano and Highway 12, and alert deputy recognized a motorist that he knew the motorist had a suspended license. After pulling over the motorist, the deputy found out that as part of the motorists' terms of probation, he was required to have an interlock device on the car – which he didn't have. The 22-year-old Boyes resident was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle without an interlock, driving while suspended, driving on a suspended license as a habitual traffic offender and a probation violation. He received a chauffeured ride to the county jail.
